How the volume was calculated
Volume comes first
Rectangles use length times width times depth. Circles use pi times radius squared times depth. Keep every dimension in compatible units before multiplying.
Why bag counts round up
You cannot normally purchase a fraction of a bag, so the result rounds up after adding waste. Product yield can vary with the mix and consistency.
Volume is not weight
Gravel is usually measured by volume for the space and by weight for delivery. Density connects the two, but stone type, grading, moisture, and compaction can change the actual weight.
Confirm the product before ordering
QUIKRETE lists approximate yields of 0.30 cubic feet for a 40-pound bag, 0.45 for a 60-pound bag, and 0.60 for an 80-pound bag of Concrete Mix. Check the manufacturer's concrete mix data and your supplier's gravel density, minimum order, and delivery rules.
